A judge ruled at the conclusion of the prosecution's case that there was insufficient evidence "to sustain a conviction on appeal." Mirken talks with This Way Out's BILL TRAVIS about his trial and tribulations [3:50] >.................................. 4:00 SEGMENT #3 - "TWO" I.D. by Amanda Bearse, "Marcy D'Arcy" on the TV sitcom "Married.. With Children" (over instrumental start of segment intro music) [:10] + In a recent letter ordered by Church hierarchy to be read from the pulpit, 740,000 California members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints -- the Mormon Church -- were urged to "do all you can by donating your means and time to assure a successful vote" in favor of the Knight Initiative, a measure on the March 2000 ballot that would specify only heterosexual marriages as "valid and recognized" by the state. The L.D.S. Church poured over a million dollars into Alaska and Hawai'i last year to help pass initiatives banning same-gender marriages in those states. Describing the Church's intervention in California as "the camel that broke the straw's back", the Gay And Lesbian Political Action Committee of Utah (GALPAC) held a press conference on July 9th to demand that the L.D.S. Church cease and desist [press conference speakers: GALPAC Board member JARED WOOD, and Church members BLAIR LEWIS, his mother RUTH, and AMY ALLEMAN; tape provided by BECKY MOSS/KRCL-Salt Lake City] (intro/ outro music from "Living In Wartime" by MICHAEL CALLEN) [5:25] ..... 5:35 SEGMENT #4 - E. This Way Out's STEVE PRIDE talks with him about his "crossover" appeal, his career, and his latest offering, "Abide With Me" (published by Doubleday; abridged audiocassette version available from Bantam Books-Audio) (intro music from the instrumental beginning of "Dream Weaver" by GARY WRIGHT; outro music from an updated version of the same song by ERIN HAMILTON, from the "Trick" movie soundtrack) >...................................... 6:40 CLOSING CREDITS/CONTINUITY ......................................... 1:15 TOTAL PROGRAM TIME ................................................. 29:00 ----------------------------Please note-------------------------------- Anyone with questions, suggestions, or NEWS stories is encouraged to email "T.W.O."
