SEGMENT #1 -  NewsWrap: The Christian Coalition abandons its effort to win 
tax-exempt status (or maybe they lost their appeal to the IRS), and will 
split into two separate organizations [with comments from Americans United 
for Separation of Church and State executive director Rev. Barry Lynn]; 
openly gay Canadian MP Svend Robinson is disciplined by his party for 
bringing a constituents’ petition to remove God from the constitution [with 
Robinson reading from the petition]; Canada’s Opposition Reform Party 
introduces a motion in the House of Commons to affirm that marriage is for 
heterosexuals only, and it surprisingly passes with government support; 
meanwhile, a public opinion poll shows that most Canadians support legal 
same-gender marriage; the Australian states of Victoria and Queensland 
consider bills to make gay and lesbian couples equal to their heterosexual 
counterparts; a South African adjudicator rules that pension funds cannot 
discriminate; two lesbigay activists on Queen Elizabeth’s Birthday Honours 
list for Orders of the British Empire, the site of gay Alan Turing’s WWII 
code-breaking to become a theme park, and Matthew Bourne wins “Swan Lake” 
Tony Award; informal White House greetings have been issued before, but 
President Bill Clinton for the first time proclaims Gay and Lesbian Pride

reading “The History of Lesbianism” and excerpts from a January 1969 
(pre-Stonewall) gay radio program on Pacifica Radio’s WBAI-New York - in 
which BAIRD SEARLES and KERMIT LAMB talk about the lack of pride and courage 
they saw as the main problem with the “homosexual movement; excerpts from a 
1970 audio documentary about the Stonewall Rebellion narrated by BRETT ARTERY 
and featuring an eyewitness account by CRAIG RODWELL, which segues into an 
edited version of “Long Hot Summer” by THE TOM ROBINSON BAND; vox pop 
interviews conducted in West Hollywood, California by GABRIELLE ANTOLOVICH; 
and “Gay History Rap,” a final retelling of the Stonewall tale by AGE OF
