H, Canadian activists were on the whole elated with the results. The Court found against the province of Ontario, and said that the equality of same-gender couples was guaranteed by the federal Charter of Rights and Freedoms -- which will impact every province in the country. For a legal brief on this historic ruling, This Way Out's HEATHER KITCHING talks with M's attorney MARTHA McCARTHY and well-known British Columbia lawyer and activist BARBARA FINDLAY [3:10] .... 3:20 SEGMENT #3 - Billboard for AudioFile [:10] + "TWO" I.D. by Sir Ian McKellen [:20] + According to Florida law, married couples and single people are eligible to adopt children, as are people wishing to adopt the children of a new spouse. However, the law specifically states "No person eligible to adopt under this statute may adopt if that person is a homosexual." It used to be that Florida and New Hampshire were the only U.S. states with such a ban on their books, but with recent repeal in the Granite State, Florida now stands alone -- for the moment -- in preventing gays and lesbians from becoming adoptive parents. This Way Out's SUSAN GAGE talks with MARY ALLEGRETTI of the Florida Department of Children and Families & former Florida state representative ELAINE GORDON, prospective gay dad JOHN WALLACE, and New Hampshire state representative RAYMOND BUCKLEY & state Senate majority leader RICK TROMBLY (intro music from "It's A Mean World" by SWEET HONEY IN THE ROCK) [6:15] ................... 6:45 SEGMENT #4 - A trio of queer crooners offer new CDs with unstandard standards, beautiful ballads, and some lighter lyrics, too, in this month's selections from the "AudioFile" (hosted by PAM MARSHALL & CHRIS WILSON and co-produced with CHRISTOPHER DAVID TRENTHAM), featuring comments by and selections from PATRICK ARENA's "Night Cap", RICK JENSEN's "Spring Harvest" and CHRISTOPHER HOPKINS' "I'll Be Seeing You" ...................... 6:20 CLOSING CREDITS/CONTINUITY ......................................... 1:15 TOTAL PROGRAM TIME ................................................. 29:00 =====================*====================== STATION PROMO COPY: ANNCR: NEXT TIME ON "THIS WAY OUT", THE CANADIAN SUPREME COURT'S LANDMARK RULING RECOGNIZES COUPLE EQUALITY, CO- ADOPTIONS PASS DANISH MUSTER, BUT THE LESBIGAY WEDDING TRAIN IS DERAILED IN THE NETHERLANDS ...
