gunned down outside his South Miami Beach, Florida home, and gay multiple

Agent PAUL PHILLIPS and longtime local gay activist CLARK REYNOLDS), while
Versace is fondly remembered by friends and colleagues [these related stories

EuroCourt equal age of consent case, and it's now anticipated that Parliament
will soon lower the gay male age of consent from the current 18 to 16, the

openly-gay Vice P.M. Elio DiRupo was set up by rightwing operatives on false
charges that he had sex with underage teens, allegations that almost toppled
the national government late last year;  Patria Jimenez is Mexico's (and
possibly all of Latin America's) first openly-lesbian or gay candidate to win
election to the national parliament;  and in Papua New Guinea, tuna will find

eyes of the world have been on HAWAI'I since its Supreme Court ruled in 1993
that the state's benefits of legal marriage discriminate against same-gender
couples.  With several more legislative and judicial rounds since then, and a
final state Supreme Court decision due later this year, the Hawai'i
legislature responded in part with the creation of "reciprocal
beneficiaries", in a law that took effect July 8th.  TORY CHRISTOPHER and
HELEN MENDOZA [from KPFK/Los Angeles' "imru"] and GLEN REEDER [KPFA/Berkeley]
report on the complex results of Hawai'i's political compromise [includes
comments by Hawai'ian gay activist MARTIN RICE; attorney DAN FOLEY, who
represents the 3 gay and lesbian couples who filed the original lawsuit; and
