It took home the Gold in the "Best Music-Themed Special" category in this year's prestigious Sony Awards -- the UK's radio industry "Oscar". Producer Matthew Linfoot and narrator TOM ROBINSON (the pioneering openly-gay British rocker best known for his seminal '70's anthem "Sing If You're Glad To Be Gay") have re-recorded and re-edited the program into a special 5-part series especially for "This Way Out". In part one, following a musical introduction by THE BEATLES, Tom discusses and plays perhaps the earliest reference to gays and lesbians on vinyl, a 1926 ditty called "Masculine Women, Feminine Men" (by BILL MEYERL and GWEN FARRAR), and one of MA RAINY's more blatantly queer tunes, "Prove It On Me Blues" [10:35] ....... 11:10 CLOSING CREDITS/CONTINUITY ........................................................ 1:15 TOTAL PROGRAM TIME ........................................................................ 28:00 ----------------------Please note------------------------ Anyone with questions, suggestions, or NEWS stories is encouraged to email "T.W.O."
