protecting gays and lesbians from discrimination, which their respective
governors are expected to sign;  Colorado and Florida legislatures send
same-gender marriage ban bills on to their respective governors, who are each
expected to sign them into law;  Georgia's infamous Attorney General Michael
Bowers ("Bowers vs. Hardwick") resigns his post to run for governor;
 Britain's Chris Smith, one of 4 openly-gay Members of Parliament sworn in
this week, becomes the first openly-gay Cabinet Minister (National Heritage)
in British history;  Steve Howard, Vermont's Democratic Party chairperson,
and Brian Bennett, the top aide to highly homophobic former U.S.
Congressmember Robert Dornan (R-CA), each create a political stir by coming
out;  religious zealots protest Cyprus' impending sodomy law repeal;  more
charges of homosexual harassment and rape are leveled against former Zimbabwe
president Canaan Banana;  a symbolic empty chair highlights the opening of
this year's Cannes Film Festival, protesting China's refusal to allow "East
Palace, West Palace"'s Zhang Yuan to attend;  and much ado about "The Farmer
In The Dell" promoting queer marriage in a kindergarten class in Brigham

SEGMENT #2 -  Billboard for "Pink Card" feature [:05]  +  "Hello Muddah,
Hello Faddah", this week's episode of "ELLEN", portrayed "Ellen Morgan"
(ELLEN DEGENERES) coming out to her parents (ALICE HIRSON and STEVE GILBORN).
 While the ratings for this outing dipped considerably from the highly-hyped
"coming out" hour special the week before, "Ellen" still comfortably led its
timeslot, even improving on the numbers for the lead-in "Drew Carey Show" for
the first time ever.  Chrysler was also back as an "Ellen" advertiser,
touting its Jeep line, but WBMA (ABC 33/40) in Birmingham, Alabama refused to
air "Ellen" again, deciding that a show about a child wanting to be more
honest with her parents was "not suitable family viewing".  For the folks in
Birmingham (and others who may have missed this week's episode), we've got
