charged with pedophilia, while gay-bashed Wisconsin schoolboy Jamie Nabozny
wins a landmark federal court case against school district officials who did
nothing to stop it;  "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" is in U.S. courts again, via a
re-hearing of "Able versus USA" and gay Marine Sgt. Robert Nadel's appeal of
his military criminal conviction which he charges violated the "Don't Pursue"
element of the policy;  Chrysler Corporation CEO Robert Eaton, perhaps
responding to demonstrations in at least 20 U.S. cities over the specific
omission of "sexual orientation" in the company's anti-discrimination policy,
issues a memo to all employees saying Chrysler will not "tolerate harassment
or discrimination of any employee on any basis, including sexual
orientation";  pioneering psychologist Dr. Evelyn Hooker, whose research and
advocacy lead to the removal of homosexuality from the American Psychological
Association's list of disorders, dies at the age of 89;  Scandinavia's first
continuing lesbigay TV program, Sweden's "Homogen", is canceled;  and
humorist Michael Moore (creator of the short-lived TV series "TV Nation" and
the acclaimed film "Roger & Me") counters election-losing homophobic U.S.
Congressman Bob Dornan's claims of voter irregularities with his own
challenge -- that all votes for Dornan should be invalidated, because anyone
who voted for Dornan is crazy, and California laws bar insane people from

as there are lesbians and gays.  But in northern Minnesota, a slowly growing
number of lesbian women are choosing a challenging and rewarding life on the
land.  In the first of a 3-part series, KAREN BAUMAN [KUMD-FM/Duluth] talks
with one of the leaders of this movement, NETTE HART, and explores the

recent homecoming tour (and on the last two installments of This Way Out),
he's reported on many aspects of life after apartheid for gays and lesbians,
black and white.  On the last leg of his journey, Nigel meets Capetown drag
diva KEWPIE, a living artifact of "District 6"'s secret queer past, and also
talks with writer JACK LEWIS about South Africa's historic drag culture
