an anti-queer crackdown in the gay-popular Spanish resort city of Sitges;
 the European Court of Human Rights hears the case of 3 British men arrested
for consensual S&M sex in 1990's infamous "Operation Spanner" police raid of
a private home;  the U.S. Supreme Court won't consider openly-gay discharged
Naval officer Paul Thomasson's appeal of the constitutionality of "Don't Ask,
Don't Tell", while another officer is snared in an alleged U.S. Air Force
anti-gay witchhunt in Hawaii;  Canadian autoworkers gain same-gender spousal
benefits as part of their union's new contract with General Motors, while an
arbitrator upholds Disney's "gays and lesbians only" same-gender spousal
benefits;  a Swedish lesbian mom is given "paternity" leave;  and venerable
U.S. humor publication "MAD Magazine" uses its "fold in" back cover to
satirize Congressional preoccupation with same gender marriage [compiled and

School District held a day-long conference for lesbigay youth on October 19th
at Occidental College called "Models Of Pride".  TWO's BRIAN NUNES reports on
the event, and includes comments by organizer BART VERRY and some of the
student participants (intro/outro music from "The Greatest Love Of All" by

SEGMENT #3 -  TWO I.D. by openly-gay actor Wilson Cruz (from the now-canceled
U.S. TV series "My So-Called Life" and the upcoming theatrical film "johns")
[:10]  +  While the election season preoccupation in the U.S. is with the
presidential campaign, lesbigay activists are also concerned with key
Congressional races.  Beyond the straightforward strategic considerations,
the effort to defeat NORTH CAROLINA SENATOR JESSE HELMS in particular takes
on a personal tone for many human rights advocates.  TWO's MARY SALOME,
reporting from a mid-October anti-Helms musical fundraiser held in San
Francisco, talks with event organizer KIMERON HARDIN and with MANDY CARTER of
the anti-Helms group North Carolina Mobilization '96 (includes a brief
musical excerpt by pianist WILLIAM WATSON from his "Fields" CD) [3:40]; then,
VERNA AVERY BROWN [Pacifica Network News] talks with PATSY CLARKE, co-founder
of the North Carolina grassroots group Mothers Against Jesse In Congress
