SEGMENT #1 - NewsWrap:  A new report shows advertising revenues have risen in
the U.S. lesbigay press three times faster than in mainstream publications;
 Virginia lesbian mom Sharon Bottoms compromises on custody only to get
less-than-desired visitation rights;  Mississippi becomes the latest U.S.
state to ban recognition of same-gender marriage, while California
Republicans desperately try to ban lesbigay marriage there;  a Moroccan man
wins the right to stay in Britain based on his 13-year gay relationship with
a British national;  consumer advocate Ralph Nader becomes the Green Party's
U.S. presidential candidate, but has "no comment" on the party's strong
lesbigay rights positions, which include support for same-gender marriage;
 leaders of 8 major U.S. transgender groups meet to form a national movement
against gender-based oppression called "GenderPAC";  lesbigay issues such as
ordination and same-gender partnerships are hot topics within Sweden's
national church, the Svenska Kyrkan, but queer-related topics are nowhere on
the agenda of the Church's Annual Synod this month, while Sweden's first
national weekly lesbigay TV show debuts September 2nd on hip commercial
channel ZTV;  the U.S. national Deaf Queer Resource Center wins two
significant website awards (they're at deafqueer.org);  Poland's first
lesbian archives, "OLA-Archiwum", is being organized by a team of women in
the city of Lodz;  a study presented at a recent meeting of the American
Psychological Association compared testosterone levels in butch-femme lesbian
couples and male oil field engineers;  and over 200 liberals -- about a
fourth of them lesbians and gay men -- gather at the San Diego site of the
recent GOP Convention to exorcise what they describe as "residual evil"

House of Representatives' only openly-gay Republican Congressmember, STEVE
GUNDERSON of Wisconsin, appeared at a press conference during the recent GOP
Convention in San Diego to promote his recently-released book "House & Home"
(written with his partner of 13 years ROB MORRIS), and to discuss lesbigay
people's stake in the Republican Party's so-called "Big Tent".  Gunderson
also answers a Danish reporter's question about Americans' apparent
pre-occupation with sexual orientation, and another question asking, given
the shoddy treatment he's suffered from some of his peers, why he's stayed in
