permanent part of U.S. legislation through renewal of The Hate Crimes
Statistics Act;  U.S. Unitarian Universalists support same-gender marriage,
while U.S. Presbyterians grapple with ordination of open gays and lesbians;
 The head of Hungary's Reformed Church blasts the recent Parliamentary vote
there to grant legal recognition to gay and lesbian partnerships, while the
first 3 same-gender couples celebrate newly-established legal partnerships in
Iceland;  Delaware and Michigan become the 14th and 15th U.S. states to enact
measures banning same-gender marriage;  the Olympic Torch passes through
Greenville County, South Carolina in an enclosed recreational vehicle because
of the county's passage of a measure calling homosexuality "incompatible with
community standards";  producers of Turkey's most successful film ever,
"Istanbul Under My Wings", are under fire from the country's largest
political party, the Islamic Welfare Party, for what they claim is the film's
portrayal of an important historical figure as bisexual;  Taiwan has its
first lesbigay radio program, a 2-hour broadcast each weekday starting July
1st in the city of Taipei;  Lesbigay Pride Month celebrations are being held
across the U.S. - reports this week on Iowa City and Des Moines, Iowa; Boise,
Idaho; Portland, Oregon; Houston, Texas; and Los Angeles;  in Germany,
Berlin's Pride Festival includes a satirical presentation "honoring" the
Pope's recent visit there;  and The Volleyball Association of Thailand is
probably nervous after an all-tranny team wins the Men's Division Gold Medal

SEGMENT #3 -  Billboard for "Gay Olympian" feature [:05]  +  Organizers in
Great Britain are continuing their work to change the age of consent for gay
male sex.  The European Commission decided in late May that the European
Court of Human Rights could hear a case arguing that the U.K. law, setting a
higher age of consent for gays than for heterosexuals, is a discriminatory
violation of the European Convention On Human Rights.  17-year-old CHRIS
MORRIS, who's become the new complainant, and ANGELA MASON, of the national
lesbigay rights group Stonewall, discuss the case with PETROC TRELAWNY [from

 "Gay Olympian: The Life & Death of Dr. Tom Waddell" profiles the founder of
the Gay Games.  It's Waddell's autobiography, written with ABC-TV
sportscaster DICK SCHAAP during the 7 months prior to Waddell's death from
AIDS.  In the first of a multi-part interview, This Way Out's JOSY CATOGGIO
begins a conversation with Schaap about Waddell's "Renaissance" life (intro
