SEGMENT #1 -  NewsWrap:  The Canadian Human Rights Commission says the
federal government must extend spousal benefits to the gay and lesbian
partners of its employees, while the Presbyterian Church of Canada reverses
its first ordination of an openly active gay man;  a U.S. House committee
approves DOMA - The Defense Of Marriage Act - and it will next be considered
by the full House of Representatives;  Tennessee's State Supreme Court lets
stand a lower court ruling striking down the state's anti-gay sodomy law,
while the South Korean Supreme Court rules that two assailants who raped a
male-to-female transsexual should only be charged with sexual assault
because, among other reasons, the victim "cannot get pregnant";  a state
district judge orders the Republican Party of Texas to honor its previous
sale to the lesbigay Log Cabin Republicans of exhibit space and an ad in the
program for the state party convention;  the Housing Committee of the Swedish
Parliament orders the federal government to draft a bill extending housing
allowances to same-gender couples equal to those of heterosexual couples,
while in Spain, all political parties except the ruling Partido Popular
strongly support a national partnership bill to legally recognize both hetero
and same-gender unmarried couples;  the city of Pisa, Italy grants full legal
and financial recognition to gay and lesbian couples;  "Recognition of
Lesbian and Gay Couples" is the theme of the upcoming pride celebration in
Marseilles, France, while a first-ever lesbigay pride event is planned for
later this month in Floriana, Malta;  annual pride celebrations are held in
Salt Lake City, Utah; Boston, Massachusetts; Washington, D.C.; and San Jose,
California; while North Carolina's "Pride '96" prompts 40 area churches to
take out a full-page ad in a Winston-Salem newspaper calling on gays and
lesbians to turn away from their "awful and unnatural desire";  and a record
13,000 celebrate pride in Tempe, Arizona, where the city's Sponsorship Review
Committee, over objections by the Arizona Christian Coalition, awards a
$1,500 grant to Arizona Central Pride to help fund next year's event

from "Sharing The Magic" by LORIN SKLAMBERG & JOANNA CASDEN, followed by
excerpts from a January 1969 (pre-Stonewall) gay radio program on WBAI-FM in
New York City -- the topic, discussed by BAIRD SEARLES and KERMIT LAMB:
"What's Wrong With The Homosexual Culture?" [3:40];  excerpts from a 1970
audio documentary about the Stonewall Rebellion narrated by BRETT ARTERY and
featuring an eyewitness account by CRAIG RODWELL [2:50], which segues into an
edited version of "Long Hot Summer" by THE TOM ROBINSON BAND [2:15];  vox pop
"ignorant-on-the-street" interviews conducted in West Hollywood, California
by GABRIELLE ANTOLOVICH [1:05]; & "Gay History Rap", a final re- telling of
the Stonewall tale by AGE OF CONSENT [2:35] ... 12:30

SEGMENT #3 -  "Approval versus Acceptance" - At this pridefull time of year,
many people still ask, "What's the point?"  According to VAL M. COX in this
personal commentary, the point is definitely NOT to court the "approval" of
anti-lesbigay bigots
