co-existant" same-gender couples, Finland may be next, and similar Brazilian
legislation advances to a special Parliamentary commission;  Michigan will
probably be the next U.S. state to refuse to recognize same-gender couples,
but Philadelphia Mayor Edward Rendell issues an executive order extending
family leave and spousal health care benefits to the gay and lesbian partners
of non-civil service city workers;  the unelected Canadian Senate approves
the sexual orientation anti-discrimination protections passed last month in
the House of Commons, Vancouver voters elect Tim Stevenson as the second
openly-gay man to serve in the British Columbia Legislative Assembly, while
Halifax police arrest a suspect in the May 20th triple murders in Toronto
that involved two transsexual victims;  at a Russian gay and lesbian
convention in Moscow, spokesperson Roman Kalinin expresses concern about the
candidacy of Communist Party presidential candidate Gennady Zyuganov;  a
judge orders mediation in the lawsuit filed by the Log Cabin Republicans
against the Republican Party of Texas over the state GOP's refusal to allow
the lesbigay Republican group's participation in the upcoming state party
convention;  there won't be another anti-lesbian-and-gay initiative on
November's Oregon ballot, but homophobes continue their efforts to qualify an
anti-queer intiative in Idaho;  and the consensus opinion in the very gay
Castro district of San Francisco about the antics of very "unique" National
Basketball Association star Dennis Rodman: "I think he's straight -- he's too

SEGMENT #2 - Billboard for EuroPride '96 feature [:10]  +  Earlier this month
in Los Angeles, Keith Green was cleared of charges related to the death of
his lover of 8 years, Jim Northcutt.  Green was Northcutt's fulltime
caretaker during his fight with AIDS, but Northcutt made it clear to his
attorney and physicians that his planned suicide would be without help from
Green.  Last December, Northcutt took a lethal dose of barbiturates, bid his
lover farewell, and went to his garage to activate a specially-assembled
carbon monoxide device.  Police nevertheless charged Green with murder and
felony assisted suicide.  Green's defense team provided evidence to the D.A.
which led to all charges against Green being dropped.  PAM MARSHALL

ROBERTSON about what was, at best, a case of sloppy police work and
negligence by the coronor's office, and at worse, a textbook case of law

SEGMENT #3 -  The 4th annual EuroPride celebration is set for June 21st to
30th in Copenhagen.  Last year's event in London drew 180,000 people.  BO
MORTENSEN [Radio Rosa/Copenhagen] talks with one of the EuroPride '96
organizers, WANDA SWAFFIELD, about their plans and objectives for ten days of
parades, parties and politics.  The conversation focuses on the wide variety
of events planned for the 10-day celebration, media coverage, lesbian
participation, financing, and the state of lesbigay freedoms in the various
