For the territory's six million inhabitants the rule of Beijing could have an impact on their personal freedom and liberty. INTERNATIONAL AIDS CONFERENCE Next week thousands of scientists, activists and people with HIV/AIDS will gather in Vancouver for the International AIDS Conference. It's now two years since the last conference of this scale was held. In the midst of funding cuts and little exciting science what is likely to be on offer this year? David Cook has previously reported from AIDS conferences in Amsterdam and Berlin and now looks ahead to the new optimism surrounding the treatment of the disease. More critically, Professor Tony Pinching from Barts Hospital talks to David Cook about the current HIV/AIDS funding crisis.
