After five years of research and related work, I've finally finished Lesbian Sources: A Bibliography of Periodical Articles, 1970-1990, and it's now a 700+ page reference book available from Garland Publishing. Here's the basic information about it; I think it will be a very useful resource for anyone doing queer studies work: Comprising over 3500 entires by and about lesbians, this bibliography is a one-of-a-kind resource for the blossoming field of lesbian and gay [and bisexual!] studies. Citations are cross-referenced and multiply-listed in over 100 categories, including traditional topics in the humanities and social sciences as well as lesbian and feminist political issues pertaining to race, class, disability, nationality, homophobia, popular culture, and more. The author gathers information that currently is scattered throughout libraries into teh first comprehensive bibliography of lesbian studies articles published in nationally and internationally distributed periodicals. According to historian Lillian Faderman (who wrote the introduction), "Lesbian Sources will be the most useful volume in the lesbian researcher's library. It will change the way all scholars of lesbian studies do research." Unfortunately the cover price (@$75) is prohibitive to individuals. Please be sure to let your university library know that the les/bi/gay community of students and scholars needs this book and other resources like it. Librarians will know how to order from Garland. For individuals who are interested in this or other Garland titles -- there's an entire gay and lesbian studies series -- a catalog is available by writing or calling (sorry, I don't have an email address; you'll have to do it the old-fashioned way): Garland Publishing 1000A Sherman Ave Hamden, CT 06514 (203) 281-4487 Fax: (203) 230-1186 Toll-free number for orders: (800) 627-6273 Sorry to toot my own horn, here, but as a student and teacher I'm painfully aware of the lack of reference works in queer studies. I wish someone else had created something like lesbian sources before I came along! Peace, and thanks for the support, Linda Garber
