Hom Subject: Call for Writings on HIV and API women Hello all, ... please forward ... AYH - - - - - - - OTHERS AMONG OTHERS: A LAP Notes Newsletter:"In Our Own Words Series" Asian and Pacific Islander Lesbian, Bi, Transgendered Women Who Have Sex With Women (LBTWSW). A Call For Writers What does HIV have to do with API LBTWSW? We are often the lowest priority in health research and programming even though HIV/AIDS is an emerging concern to our overall health and wellness. As API LBTWSW, we are faced with silence, the model minority myth, cultural stigma, & marginalization from our communities and society. The issues construct barriers to our own healthcare and perpetuate a false pretense that we are not at risk. This is why, in this issue of LAP Notes, we are dedicating this issue to our health and wellness. We would like to invite you to join us and contribute to a special issue dedicated to women's health , created by and for API LBTWSW. Contribute and demand that your health needs be addressed. Suggested Topics: -How is HIV/AIDS infecting and affecting queer API women? -Bringing HIV/AIDS education into the home -Bringing stories from home -STD's -Sex work/sex industry -Why are there many queer women in the HIV/AIDS field when we may not be infected directly? -What is our relationship to other communities of color? -Access of healthcare -Addressing the issues of safer sex, round table discussion -Motherhood and families -Immigration/asylum -domestic violence -Barriers and discrimination -Cultural barriers/taboos -Queer youth/elderly queer women Please note that the above are only suggested topics.
