Subject: Gay AIDS & Essentialism

There is a fairly new book out, _Safety in Numbers_ which I highly recommend.
There are chapters on "The De-Gaying of AIDS" and how we should begin
"Re-Gaying AIDS."

A number of activists have continued to insist that AIDS *is* a gay disease,
such as Michael Callen and Luke Sissyfag. The above book offers some critical
commentary on health educators language usage of "men who have sex with men"
(MSM) rather than "gay men." The MSM approach is most widely used in the US
today, but is seriously flawed.

Would also be interested in hearing what folks out there think of David
Feinberg's _Queer and Loathing_. Unfortunately, he died in November within days
of its release.
