STONEWALL 25 OUT AROUND THE WORLD! International Direct Actions And Rally At The United Nations -- 1st Ave at 47th Street MONDAY -- JUNE 27 1994 -- 12 NOON Sunday, June 26, shows unified numbers. Monday, June 27, demonstrates unified power. The Gay/Lesbian/Bisexual/Drag/Transgender community will no longer think of our struggles as local struggles. Our community recognizes the need for local power to be tied to international power. We are coming forward to demonstrate our unified international strength. The United Nations must be held accountable for the oppression and suppression that exists toward our community, and all other communities, that are subjected to dehumanizing repression, legislation, degradation, and assassination. We will do whatever we must as human beings to ensure our human rights. Join us in protest, brothers and sisters, as we march on numerous Missions demonstrating that we *are* OUT AROUND THE WORLD! Organized by Stonewall 25: Direct Action Working Group (DAWG) For further information call: +1-212-741-0132 ------------------------- (second page) STONEWALL 25 WILL BE A GLOBAL SOCIAL REVOLUTION. As we march through the streets of New York City commemorating the 25th Anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, we take pride in our history, celebrate our diversity and re-affirm the power of unity. Stonewall 25 brings life to the truly international character of our community and struggle. As we join our sisters and brothers from every corner of the world, we seek nothing less than the end of social, political, cultural, and economic structures which continue to oppress, repress, suppress, and depress our people We, as a global community, see that oppression makes us all brothers and sisters. WE ARE CONNECTED, NOT BY OUR CIVIL RIGHTS, BUT BY OUR HUMAN RIGHTS. Our struggle for dignity, acceptance, and the ending of discrimination, against the verbal and physical violence directed toward us is nothing short of a fight for our lives and a fight for our most basic human rights. On June 27th we direct our attention to the world's governments, and to the United Nations. THE TIME FOR ACTION IS NOW. Our community has begged and pleaded long enough. The Lesbian/Gay/Bisexual/Drag/Transgender community will do whatever we must as human beings, to guarantee our full human rights. OUR EFFORTS ARE STRENGTHENED AS WE REMEMBER THOSE WHO HAVE FALLEN -- BY MURDER, NEGLECT, HUMILIATION, AND BY INACTION IN THE FACE OF THE AIDS PANDEMIC. Horrific acts of violence, often by official political actions, take place around the world every day. Our movement is actively fighting these atrocities in virtually every nation of the world -- we are a global community. Is it appropriate that we turn our attention to the United Nations? Yes. WE CALL UPON THE U.N. AND ITS MEMBER STATES TO STAND WITH US IN THE STRUGGLE AGAINST INJUSTICE AND OPPRESSION. As the one place where the governments of the world come together, the United Nations must play a positive, strong, leadership role in helping to secure our most basic human rights. There is no more time for inaction. There are no more excuses for ignoring us. We are people marching in heels, boots, topsiders, sneakers and barefoot from all over the Earth. We are angry, we are courageous, and we are OUT AROUND THE WORLD! /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ | JOIN US -- your sisters and brothers from around the globe -- on | | Monday, June 27, as we bring our demands to the world's governments | | and to the United Nations.
