Date: Wed, 4 May 94 09:23 GMT From: gwyn@thunder.indstate.edu (Thomas W. Holt Jr.) April 15, 1994 GUIDELINES FOR NON-VIOLENT, TRANSGENDER LEAD, CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE AT NON-INCLUSIVE STONEWALL 25 EVENT IN JUNE IN NEW YORK CITY "Stonewall 25", the international march on the United Nations to affirm the human rights of ONLY lesbian and gay people, will be on the 26th of June 1994 in New York City. Despite numerous pleas, the event organizers refuse to include the words "transgender, drag and bisexual" in the title of the event. Therefore, ICTLEP issues these educational guidelines for non-violent, civil disobedience. 1. Participants in the "Educational Protest of Non-Inclusion" will be three types: (a) those who will carry signs, wear special t-shirts, place themselves (in repeating teams) into the march route and allow themselves to be arrested; (b) those who will carry signs, wear t-shirts, shout "AND, AND, AND" and march in the event. 2. All signs and t-shirts will be white with black lettering. Signs are to be of posterboard only, either hand carried or on cardboard tubes (not wooden sticks). The signs and t-shirts will "emphasize the need to inclusify" the lesbian, gay, transgender, drag and bisexual movement: they will be simple and read as follows: A N D transgender and drag and bisexual and gay and lesbian 3. Those wishing to participate shall meet at 3:30 PM, Saturday the 25th June in the law offiices of Margo Diesenhouse, 844 Sixth Ave. #404, New York, NY 10001, (212) 473-4750, FAX: (212) 685-8362 for organization and my instruction in non-violent civil disobedience: NO ONE will be in the arrest teams who does not attend. Teams will be organized for repeated stopping of the march, NOT for resisting arrest. Every effort will be made to notify the police. I will be in the first team to be arrested. The observers will follow the arrest teams through the arrest-jail-court-release sequences. Phyllis Randolph Frye, Executive Director. ( original signed )
