Serving in this endeavour are Co-Chair Franklin Fry; Executive members Steve Oxendine, Flora Piterak, and Janice Thom; and John Byer, Leslie Cagan, Sue Doster and Janet Kyle. All are volunteers. "The plan is on track," stated Fry. "We are working on a number of avenues from telemarketing to a direct appeal to some of the celebrities that appeared at the Rally in Central Park." The Official Commemorative video, The Future is Ours! is in production and orders are being placed daily. The video, the only one to benifit the organization, will feature 90 minutes of the March on the United Nations and as well as speakers and entertainment from around the globe. The proceeds from the video are a key to the repayment plan. The Merchandise Program is still up and running, filling orders. Ads will be appearing shortly announcing the availability of both the merchandise and the video. Since June 26, volunteers have staffed merchandise tables at pride events in San Diego, Northhampton, and Harrisburg. Sales also continue in New York. The telemarketing is under way and is already showing good response. "It is clear that people left New York City with a greater understanding of what Stonewall 25 was about - our global movement and our world-wide fight for human rights." explained Fry. "It is notable that the media coverage of the anniversaries of the first moon walk and Woodstack focus on the dream deferred and the road not taken, where the reports on Stonewall 25 all showed just how far the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender movement has come in a quarter century." Correspondence, calls and/or meetings have been held with those who are owed money. "Stonewall 25 has made the pledge to not run away, but instead face this debt and make sure all are paid in full," promised Flora Piterak. "We are extremely grateful to those who worked so hard, put their time and resources into this event and who, even now, are still being so patient as we put together this massive fundraising effort." The goal of the repayment plan is to have all debts paid by the end of November. All this does not diminish the impact that was felt from the weekend of Stonewall 25. Not only were 72 nations represented in the march, but since then letters and calls have been coming in from all over the US and from a number of countries extolling the momentum felt and the inspiration to do the work still to be done. Orders for the video ($19.95 + $2 s & h) and for merchandise can be placed by calling 212-727-9061.
