The Stonewall Festival and Parade Committee and the City of Wilton Manors are in high gear with the inaugural preparations for the Sunday, June 25th, Wilton Drive Gala. Wilton Drive and feeder streets that connect into the parade route will be closed from 2 A.M. Sunday morning until 2 A.M Monday morning. During this period vendors and workers will be erecting barriers, booths and a show stand on the Drive between N.E. 6th Ave. and N.E. 9th Ave. Vendors may secure their reserve booth information packets either on Saturday at Scoop Magazine (10 A.M. - 6PM) or 10 A.M. Sunday morning at the Italian American Club on 7th Avenue and Wilton Drive on the east side of the Shops of Wilton Manors. Parade floats will assemble at the 2020 Wilton Drive Building at 10:30 A.M. and organizations with banners at 11:00 A.M.. Individuals marching in the parade must be at the 2020 kick-off location at 11:15 A.M. SHARP. The parade will begin at 11:30 A.M and the Festival will open at 12 noon with music, guests and a day-long array of entertainment which will end at 6:00 PM. The parade will begin at the 2020 Wilton Drive Building and end at Dixie Highway (5 corners) where the crowd will disburse and security staffers will direct traffic flow. There will be extra parking at the old and new Ft. Lauderdale Gay & Lesbian Community Center buildings, the Sun Trust Building on 26th Street, and the Ft. Lauderdale High School. Bus shuttles will carry people to and from the street festival. There isn~t any charge for the service nor will there be a fee for entering the festival. This is one of the first and probably the largest street festival the City of Wilton Manors has ever hosted. Pride of Greater Ft. Lauderdale is elated about the diverse number of vendor booths, the great enthusiasm surrounding the street parade and the positive reaction received from the public and civic officials.
