                    BAY BASH (BLACK GAY PRIDE) 1996
                   OAKLAND/SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA


WHAT:   Bay Bash is an annual pride celebration for Bay Area 
        Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals and Transgenders ("LGBTs")
        of African descent.  Bay Bash is a benefit that supports 
        non-profit agencies that provide services to this 
        community.  Bay Bashs four nights of events include a 
        Welcome Reception, Talent Showcase, Dance Party and
        Dinner Cruise.


WHEN:	The second weekend of October (referred to as 
        Columbus Weekend)

	In 1996:  Thursday - Sunday, October 10-13


WHERE:	Oakland and San Francisco


WHY:	Bay Bash is about PRIDE.  It provides individuals and 
        organizations of the LGBT African descent community a 
        series of social gatherings where they may come together, 
        celebrate, inform, entertain, unite and network.  


WHO:	LGBTs of African descent and their friends. Last years 
        Bay Bash attendees were from the immediate Bay Area 
        (Oakland, San Francisco, Berkeley, San Jose and Marin) 
        as well as other California (Los Angeles and Sacramento). 
        Bay Bash is now promoting a national event.
