She has served on the board of the National Coalition for Black Lesbians and Gays, serving as its co-chair. She edited two editions of BLACK/OUT, the publication of the NCBLG. In 1989, she received the Fannie Lou Hamer award for working to combat racism and celebrate women of color. In 1992, she received the NWSA/NAIAD award for her Ph.D. dissertation proposal in Women's Studies on Black lesbians. Tom Neal is a gay student activist from Texas. He is the founder and has served on the board of directors of the Coalition for Lesbian and Gay Student Groups (CLGSG) based in Dallas. Tom has organized many regional queer student activist conferences. Tom is particularly outspoken on the issue of coastalism in the lesbian gay and bisexual movement, that is the focus on New York or San Francisco, neglecting all the queer activists working in the midwest or the south. Special Workshop Presenters: ---------------------------- Kevin Berrill and Felice Yeskel We are glad to welcome to this year's conference Kevin Berrill and Felice Yeskel of the Making Change Institutes. Kevin and Felice have worked for several years with lesbian gay and bisexual activists nationwide helping them to build stronger campus organizations and fight the problems they face. Kevin was a training and organizing consultant for the National Lesbian and Gay Task Force Policy Institute from 1982-1992 and was directory of their Anti-Violence and Campus Projects. Felice is a training and organizational development consultant with DiversityWorks, Inc. She is also the director of the Program for Gay, Lesbian, and Bisexual Concerns at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where she also teaches on issues of diversity and lesbian/gay studies.
