Box 797, Boise ID 83701 ---------------------------------------------------------- DISCRIMINATION IS A DANGER TO US ALL! But just making that statement won't make the problem go away. We in the Northwest have become the focus of an active movement to get anti-gay/lesbian discrimination written into state and local laws. And while anti-gay & lesbian activity is the current focus, next time it may well be attacks on women, the poor, or ethnic minorities. It is up to each of us not only to stop this movement, but to make this an opportunity to work together to further advance the cause of civil rights and human understanding. The second regional Northwest Conference on Defending Human Rights will feature speakers/leaders to help us train; to stand up bravely; to speak out convincingly and to reach out peacefully. There will be opportunities to learn, to ask questions, to discuss, to meet new people, and to plan for the coming campaign. Please join us! Is the light we can see in the sky one of those which will presently be extinguished? The ideal is terrfying to behold, lost as it is in the depth, small, isolated, a pin point, brilliant but threatened on all sides by the dark forces that surround it: nevertheless, no more in danger than a star in the jaws of the clouds. -Victor Hugo ------------------------------------------------------------------ TRACK WORKSHOPS TRACK A: Speaking Out for Human Rights Ed Reaves, Bill Fish, Bonnie Tinker & Scott Nichols Includes introduction to speaking out, newspaper monitoring, lefter writing, debates, cable TV, radio, questions and answers on gay/lesbian issues, non-violent approach to speaking, personalizing your message, and a special presentation by Bonnie Tinker, Executive Director of Love Makes A Family, Inc.
