THis years theme is Making it Perfectly Queer, is a tribute to lesbian,gay and bisexual activism everywhere. Regardless of whether we are conservative, progressives, radical, female, male, transgender, Native American, Latino/hispanic, Asian, black, white, bisexual, lesbian, gay,and in or out of the closet, we are bound together by our visin of creating a perfect world. MAking it Perfectly Queer is an opportunity for all of us to share the vision. Keynote Speakers Glenn Magpantay - Former Co-Chair of the National Lesbian, Gay, & Bisexual Student Caucus, the only LGB student organization in the country that operates on a national level. Suzanna Denevan - Openly lesbian former student body president of University of Minnesota at Minneapolis, Suzanne has spoken to LGB student organizations and events across the United States. Sponsoring Organization: The Lesbian/Gay/Bisexual Alliance has existed at Iowa State University since the Spring of 1983. Since their founding, the organization has achieved numerous victories, including the establishment of an office to address the concerns of lesbian, gay and bisexual students. The coalition is an excellent opportunity for students to become involved with LGB activism on a Midwest Level. A special planning meeting will be held during the conference for everyone interested in planning the future of this organization. Ames is located 30 miles north of Des Moines on I-35. To reach the Memorial Union, simply take I-35 North to Highway 30. Take Highway 30 west several miles to the Elwood Drive Exit. Turn Right on Elwood and proceed to the second traffice light. Turn left onto Lincoln Way. The Memorial Uniion will be on the right about a mile later. For easiest Access, park in the Memorial Union Parking Ramp, which is free for anyone staying within the Memorial Union Hotel. The Memorial Union Hotel has special conference rates ranging from $35-$45 plus $5 per person for each night stayed. Rooms can be reserved by calling 1-515-292-1111. To recieve the conference discount, you must reserve the room before Feb. 10, and must mention that you will be attending the College Conference Sponsored by LGBA. NOTE: Although the Memorial Union Hotel is not Universally accessible to people with diasabilities, other motels in the Ames area are. For a list of these, or to discuss accessability issues in Ames or at Iowa State University, contact Stephen Lorimor at the conference office. For those people travelling on a limited budget, community housing will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. If you are interested in community housing, check the appropriate area on the registration form.
