Any responses to the list or list-owners will be returned to you. ] Dear Glb'ers: About a month and a half ago, I posted news here on this list of a new experiment in online Queer Community known as PARADOX, a place where GLBTAO folk could meet online, exchange ideas, chat, and make connections. Response to PARADOX has been overwhelming: in the first month, the service (which is, and always will be FREE) received over 10,000 logins, from as far away as Kuala Lampur, Canberra, Australia, and Argentina. Many relationships were formed between PARADOX users, and several have gone on to meet in real life... Unfortunately, however, due to the high traffic, and the actions of a number of homophobic vandals right here at Vassar College, service on Paradox was continually interrupted, and many people who wanted to get on found that they couldn't. It seemed clear that if PARADOX were to continue, then it would need a new machine, new software, and a new, safer location. I am pleased to report that it has received all three. This means that PARADOX will has many of the new features that users had been asking for, including: *Stable accounts with individual passwords *Private rooms that users own, and can customize if they desire *A PARADOX email system, so that users can send messages to other PARADOX users. *A daily updated Queer News Service (with many articles posted here and elsewhere!) *GREATLY improved stability... and MANY more simultaneous connections... (i.e. it won't crash, and there will be more people on!) I invite you all to come to PARADOX and check it out, make suggestions, and look at the new features. You should have no trouble getting in now. The new PARADOX address is: VASSUN.VASSAR.EDU PORT 4040 You get there by TELNET, which means that ion most machines, the command will be TELNET vassun.vassar.edu 4040. Additionally, you can gain access to the new PARADOX via its World Wide Web page, which is at: http://www.cs.vassar.edu/~anzolli/paradox.html I have also added a special "PARADOX conference center" where organizations may hold online meetings if they desire. I hope that you all use and enjoy the new service. We must use this technology, or someone is going to use it against us.
