Date: Wed, 20 May 1998 04:18:09 -0400 (EDT) >>>> info queerleft A discussion list for queer, lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people active in movements for progressive social change. List Description ================ queerleft is a discussion list on any topic which is in some way related to both queer/GLBTs and left politics -- activism, theory, history and organizing both in queer movements and organizations, and in socialist, anarchist, other radical currents, union, student and community organizations. I am using queer as an inclusive short term. It is not intended to exclude anyone who is not comfortable with the term, either as a self-description or a collective label. Likewise, left is meant to be taken fairly broadly. Anyone interested in and supportive of progressive social change is welcome on the list, which I hope will allow a space for respectful and constructive discussion between people of various political perspectives and priorities. Non-queers are welcome to join and participate in the list, provided that you respect that this is a space for queer-oriented discussion. Postings hostile to queers or progressive politics are not appropriate here. Personal attacks, racist comments and troll posts (designed to stir up controversy for its own sake) are also not welcome. Posters who break this policy will be warned, and then removed from the list. The list-owner will be solely responsible for these decisions, and will inform the list if anyone is removed involuntarily. Feel free to write stating your disagreement with any such a decision, but the list-owner's judgment is final. Your contributions to the list should be respectful and non-sectarian. No-one is being asked to ignore their differences, only to approach discussions on the list with the goal of clarifying and perhaps overcoming differences. While English will likely be the main list language, feel free to post in whatever language you feel most comfortable with. If you can, please include a summary or translation in English. If you can't, I will try to send along English summaries of French and Spanish posts. Please, feel free to introduce yourself to the group a reasonable time (say, few weeks) after being added. All postings on this list are to be treated as property of the poster. That means no forwarding to any non-members without the author's permission. Opinions expressed are those of the authors; membership in this list does not constitute any agreement, disagreement or support of those opinions. The posts sent to the queerleft list (queerleft@queernet.org) should be of general relevance and suitable for the whole of the list readership. Please do not send private e-mail, one-line responses, or administrative requests to the list itself. Please do not repost e-mail from the avengers list to other lists, bulletin boards, newsgroups, etc. without the express permission of the author, with the exception of such things as press releases, news articles, etc. Administrative Info =================== 1.
