LBGT-L: Cornell LGBT This list is for anyone interested in issues affecting the Lesbian, Bisexual, Gay and Transgendered community here at Cornell and around the world. It is a public list whose purpose is to stimulate communication and collaboration among the LBGT Cornell community, the LBGT world community and their allies. On this List: Introduce yourself and your interests as they relate to this list. Introduce any LBGT groups you are involved in and their goals. Post meeting times and agendas so that you can attract people who have an interest in working on those issues. Post meeting minutes so that other individuals and groups can learn about your efforts. Post information about issues and hot topics that are related to the community. Not on this list: Personal messages of any kind, information that is not particularly relevant to the LBGT community, and information which has been previously posted to the list. For example, it is not a good place to find a roommate or to express your opinion about the killing of whales (without putting it in the context of how it affects the LBGT community), or to repeat an opinion about something which has already been expressed ad nauseam on the list. How to subscribe and communicate with the list: Anyone with access to email can use the list. To receive news from the list subscribe by sending the following command to listserv@cornell.edu: subscribe LBGT-L Firstname Lastname Where "firstname" is your first name and "lastname" is your last name. Please do not include anything else in the text of the message and leave the subject heading blank. How the list is managed: Sarah Simpkins is the current "list owner" and therefore manages the list. Currently the list is open for anyone to directly subscribe, post messages and "lurk", (remain on the list without posting anything). The list owner monitors the list for inappropriate postings or problems and posts any general information about the list to subscribers. The list owner is also responsible for the current settings which govern the list and for changing them (e.g., whether replies to postings will go to the sender rather than all the subscribers). More Information: There is a complete set of electronic mailing list instructions, default settings, archived files, instructions for finding related lists and help with subscribing. Contact the acting list owner, Sarah Simpkins, by sending email to ses4@cornell.edu. -- 27 May 1995, lol@qrd.org
