***************************************************************************** [LGBPSYCH] LGBPSYCH via NEIL@PSYCH.MCGILL.CA LGBPSYCH is a forum for information exchange, support, and discussion among lesbian, gay, and bisexual graduate students in psychology. Graduate students from all fields of psychology are invited to participate. The group may fulfill a wide range of needs including: meeting lesbian, gay, and bisexual psychology students in other graduate programs, discussing research or clinical interests, sharing negative or positive experiences within your program, offering suggestions or support to other members, and discussing a variety of political, social, or philosophical, issues of relevance to lesbian, gay, and bisexual populations. Because some LGBPSYCH members may have concerns regarding privacy or potential harassment, a number of safeguards have been implemented. First of all, although the membership directory of a listserv group is ordinarily accessible by anyone who cares to use the "REVIEW" command, this command has been disabled within LGBPSYCH. That is, neither non-members nor members are able to REVIEW the LGBPSYCH membership directory. Only the list manager has this ability. However, you should note that postings to LGBPSYCH are NOT anonymous within the group; the sender's e-mail address is included in the header of every message. Thus, other members of LGBPSYCH will have access to your e-mail address when (and only when) you make a posting to the list. Second, in order to access LGBPSYCH communications, one must formally subscribe to LGBPSYCH. This requires that one forward his/her full name and e-mail address to the LGBPSYCH list manager (see HOW TO JOIN LGBPSYCH below). HOW TO JOIN LGBPSYCH Send the e-mail message JOIN LGBPSYCH@VM1.MCGILL.CA your e-mail address firstname lastname to NEIL@PSYCH.MCGILL.CA Example: JOIN LGBPSYCH@VM1.MCGILL.CA jsmith@university.ca John Smith Replace "firstname" and "lastname" with your own first name and last name. Write the message on the first line of your mailing. A confirmation of your membership will follow within a day or so.
