Welcome to gl-asb@queernet.org

The "gl-asb" list is a discussion list for discussion of bondage and SM
topics for gay men and lesbians.  It is intended to provide a forum for
discussion and stories with an atmosphere of gay and lesbian culture
perceived by some as being less prevalent in the alt.sex.bondage news
group than they wish.

This is *not* a separatist act: those who wish to continue to post to
alt.sex.bondage will likely do so, in fact, often posting the same
discussion to both fora, and those who feel their interests are not
completely served by the newsgroup will read and post here, while
possibly continuing to read the news group.

Please note: this is *not* the alt.sex.bondage.bisexuals-are-weird list,
nor is it the alt.sex.bondage.hets-are-icky list.  Posters who attempt to
drag the discussion into areas like this, or who interlope with the hundredth
occurrence of the you're-all-freaks discussion, will be warned, and if
they persist, removed from the list.

The "gl-asb" list is administered with the assistance of an automated
mailing list server called "Majordomo" (yes, we thought of "listslave"
but it was too cutesy for any other list than this one) written by Brent
Chapman.  In order to be added to the list, please send a message to
one of the following addresses:

     majordomo@queernet.org
     <wellconnectedsite>!unpc!majordomo (if you support only UUCP paths)

with the following content in the message:

      subscribe gl-asb
      end

You will be added automatically immediately.

If you wish to subscribe an address other than the one you are using to
send the request message, use the format

      subscribe gl-asb address-to-subscribe@host.dom.ain
      end

These requests require manual approval by me, so you may not get an
acknowledgement for a few hours.

*** Site administrators: it would be very helpful if you would add a local
    redistribution list, which would enable me to send only one copy of
    a message to your site.  As unpc.queernet.org is currently a UUCP
    site, this would reduce my traffic significantly.  Please help out if
    you can.  So that I can tell you are using local redistribution, please
    use a name that includes "gl-asb" in the local name, and drop me a note
    at the administrative address below that you have done so.

Because of known and under-examination interactions between Majordomo,
the "smail" mailer I use here, and some address formats sent by some mailers,
it is possible that some default addresses will either be unreachable from
here or will accidentally and temporarily disable the list.  I will attempt
to repair the list as quickly as I can, and will send a message if you need
to take any action.  If you send a message to the list and do not receive a
copy in return, please notify me.
