For the curious,

At 7:49 a.m. this morning, there were 3120 files in the QRD at a total of
30.5M.  This represents another gradual increase in disk space, from 28.5M
last month.  In November full hypertext access to the QRD was enabled and
has been receiving quite a bit of use (more than 1350 hits on the home
page).  Also, some statistics are now reported on WAIS accesses. 

During the month of November there were a total of 52,987 accesses to the 
copy of the QRD on vector: 12,315 via FTP (slight decrease) and 18,553 via 
gopher (slight increase), and 22119 via WAIS (first month reporting).  
This is an increase of nearly 20,000 hits -- clearly the result of adding 
WAIS statistics to this report.

Additionally, there are now 21,390 occurances of the word "gay" in the 
QRD, so it has joined pronouns, articles, and prepositions on the list of 
words which WAIS will not search for.

A note on "Top 10" lists: All QRD-specific information files have been 
removed from the lists (00README, HIGHLIGHTS, home-page.html, etc.).

The QRD currently has eight mirrors.  None of the mirror sites reported
any statistics, so exactly how much use the QRD is getting on machines
other than vector is unknown, but believed to be substantial -- especially
in the case of our New Zealand FTP/Gopher/Mosaic mirror. 

The QRD is currently available via BBS, FTP, gopher, WAIS, Mosaic, and
electronic mail.  The QRD is staffed by four volunteers who can be reached
at qrdstaff@vector.intercon.com.  Submissions are accepted via FTP to
/pub/QRD/incoming or email to qrd@vector.intercon.com.
