It is the quickest way to assure consideration and publication of material(s) by GayNet Members. GayNet News Service is a non-profit organization with a mission of information services to the international lesbigay community and media whose international members include weekly, semimonthly, and monthly lesbigay publications as well as several broadcasters. GayNet News Service is not affiliated with the Gaynet listserver facilitators at E-mail address "gaynet@queernet.org". Who should use this service: ---------------------------- *Parties with news items of interest to the international lesbian, bisexual or gay media. *Organizations with lesbigay-relevant press releases to be distributed to GayNet News Service members. *Individuals with nationally important news tips which may require referral to investigation by lesbigay news staff. *Contributors who would like their work to be considered for free publication by GayNet members for purposes of exposure in items such as National & International News, Commentaries/Editorials, Health Issues, Book Reviews, Press Releases, Self Improvement, Community Identity Groups, Humor, Trends, Human Interest, or Community Resources. *Gay publications or broadcasters who are *not* GayNet members who would like to make information available on a gratuitous basis for public exposure. How to access GayNet-Direct: ---------------------------- GayNet Direct is a specialized bulletin board system designed for rapid public input. You will need a computer with a competent communication software product, a modem, telephone line and some experience in connecting to other computers. Setting parameters for GayNet-Direct are as follows: (2400-N-8-1), (1200-N-8-1), or (300-N-8-1) Baud Rate = 2400, 1200 or 300, No Parity, Data Bits = 8, Stop Bits = 1. The GayNet Direct Computer Telephone access number is (505) 254-1941. All material must be uploaded as a computer file, preferably in ASCII, DOS Text, or Macintosh Text formats. Standard word processor formats must first be exported out of your environment as text. If you submit a word processed non-text file, we cannot guarantee its conversion or posting. We support the following uploading protocols: Xmodem, Ymodem and Kermit. All callers will be asked to submit their name. A global password has been established for all users.
