This 14-minute segment is anchored by Anderson Cooper and will be the second, starting at 15 minutes after the hour (typically 10:15pm). It should prove to be an inspiring piece. Young queer women participants needed for research study Date: Sat, 20 May 2000 15:11:40 -0700 From: Jill Schultz Subject: Call for participants May 2000 Dear Allies: I am a doctoral student in the College of Education at the University of Maryland, College Park. As you may know, scholarly studies are all too rare on the experiences of female high school students who are not straight. I am asking your help in locating 18, 19, and 20 year old women who identify as non-heterosexual (e.g., lesbian, bisexual, and queer) who can help fill that void by sharing their stories and analysis of schooling with me. Their words, stories, and experiences will become the centerpiece of the dissertation and, if published, fill a gap in the literature that is long overdue. I am seeking 15 volunteers for face-to-face interviews who live within driving distance from the mid- Atlantic area, roughly New York to North Carolina. I live midway between Baltimore, MD, and Washington, DC. (If 4 or 5 women outside of the mid-Atlantic region agree to an interview, I will make arrangement to travel farther within the U.S.) Please share this information with potential interviewees and/or distribute freely to your colleagues. I can be reached at: jmschultz@erols.com or (202) 884-9558. Thank you very much in advance for your support and assistance. This study has been approved by a faculty advisory committee in the College of Education and the University of Maryland's Human Subject Committee.
