''Maine law today does allow for discrimination based on sexual orientation,'' Senate Minority Leader Jane Amero said before the 28-7 vote. The Cape Elizabeth Republican, who cosponsored previous gay rights legislation, said lawmakers had an opportunity to right that wrong.
