Students on a school paper staff conduct interviews, do research and report on the events that affect their school. Because the cost to put out an issue of a paper can be expensive, papers often take on advertising customers who pay to have ads in the paper. Advertisements cover about half the cost, and the other half is funded by the school and the community. Issues of the paper are distributed to students in school and are mailed to some parents.
