Presently the group consist of representatives from Assemblyman Steve Sanders' (Chair of Assembly Education Committee) office (2 reps), Senator Tom Duanes' office (2 reps), Empire State Pride Agenda (ESPA, 4 reps), Gay Lesbian Straight Education Netwrok (GLSEN 3 national and 2 state reps), COLAGE (1 rep), NYC Community Center (1 rep) and the Coalition for Safer Schools of NYS (1 rep). I appologize if i have overlooked any others. To date the Act has been going through some hard thoughtout improvement change drafts and other plannings are being developed. I and others have been tasked to develope a DIGNITY COALITION LIST. The list will be comprised of organizations, agencies, faith groups, associations etc (individuals are welcome). Presently we seek your help in the development of the DIGNITY COALITION LIST. List members support the DIGNITY for ALL STUDENTS ACT and some will take part in further development and planning. List members names may be used in conjuction with professional mailings etc., to show a strong NY statewide backing for the Dignity for ALL Students Act. PETERSON, Gannett News Service Increasing numbers of teens have no problem with gay people, says a survey on sexual behavior commissioned by Seventeen magazine. In 1991, responding to the same question, 17 percent said they were fine with homosexuality. In 1999, 54 percent of teens said they were comfortable with it. It is currently scheduled for a hearing on March 15 at 1pm in the House Judiciary Committee. The Education-Dignity for All Students Act has been filed in Annapolis by Delegate Hixon. House Bill 920 includes a broad range of discrimination issues including sexual orientation.
