Hi everyone, I am writing to announce that work on the next edition of the Bisexual Resource Guide has begun! I am hoping to have an editor for every country in the world, and for every US state. Countries with a lot of glbt organizing will need more than one editor. Are you interested in being editor for your area? "What do editors do?" I hear you ask. Editors are responsible for making sure that all listings in the Guide are accurate and complete. They contact each group listed in their area, and then they go into our fabulous on-line database and make any necessary corrections. If a group no longer exists, they let me know. If there are new groups that should be listed, they gather the information and enter it into the database. A few editors will have the opportunity to write up a descriptive paragraph about how things are for bi people in their region. Editors are also welcome to send in photos of banners, great t-shirts, or logos of bi or bi-inclusive groups in their region. Most of the updating should be done over a 3-month period, from March through the end of June. EVERYONE, editor or not, is invited to send in updates about their own groups, to send photos, to suggest films or books with bi content that you think should be listed in the next edition of the Guide. Following are the countries that already have editors. If you live in an area _not_ on this list and are interested in volunteering, I look forward to hearing back from you. If you live in an area that _is_ already covered but want to help out, contact me anyway. Some areas are large enough that 2 editors would be a good idea, and there are other ways people can help with this project. Think about becoming a part of this exciting project. And you don't have to be bi to be an editor - allies are welcome as well! =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- This is a mailing about the Bisexual Resource Guide. Set in and around a high school, the play tells the story of 5 teens who are grappling with issues of peer pressure, youth violence, homophobia, behavior norms and expectations, self esteem, discrimination and stigmatization, identity and the meaning of true friendship and camaraderie. All performance of the 50 minute play are followed by a discussion between actor educators and the audience. "The Other Side of the Closet" is available to tour Northern California theatres, schools, conferences, etc. Tour booking costs are largely underwritten by The New Conservatory Theatre Center (NCTC) sponsors making the program affordable to host sites. Booking inquires are accepted throughout the year. The NCTC website is www.nctcsf.org. The New Conservatory Theatre Center is a San Francisco based professional theatre arts school, educational touring program and performing arts nonprofit , founded in 1981. NCTC is a leader in the development, production and touring of youth generated social issues plays for young audiences. NCTS's most popular educational touring program is the 4 play HIV Prevention series for youth ages 6-18. This program, sponsored in part by the Federal Centers for Disease Control--Atlanta, continues to tour Northern California and has been seen by 3.5 million youth world wide. I saw one of the HIV Prevention plays at a California Teachers Association Conference. It was extremely effective. I think it is likely that "The Other Side of the Closet" will be a play worth bring to a school near you. The performances in San Francisco in March are free and an excellent opportunity for you to evaluate the presentation yourself.
