INTERNAL ANNOUNCEMENT TO GLSTN ORGANIZERS, MEMBERS, FRIENDS AND SUPPORTERS


KEVIN JENNINGS NAMED OF OF NEWSWEEK'S 100 PEOPLE FOR THE NEW CENTURY

GLSTN founder and Executive Director Kevin Jennings was named to 
NEWSWEEK'S "Century Club," a listing of the 100 people to watch as 
America prepares to pass through the gate to the next millennium. The 
list appears in the April 21, 1997 issue of NEWSWEEK. 

The Century Club's purpose is "to give a snapshot of the future, framing 
some of the personalities whose creativity or talent or brains or 
leadership will make a difference in the years ahead."

Jennings' co-founded GLSTN as a local, Boston-based volunteer 
organization in 1990. Since that time, GLSTN has grown to be one of the 
largest grassroots organizations in the movement for lesbain and gay 
equality, and the only such organization working exclusively to make 
schools safe for gay and lesbian students. In his tenure as executive 
director, GLSTN has grown to more than 60 chapters and over 5,000 members.

Jennings is joined on the list by pathfinders in the arts and 
entertainment, politics and society, science and medicine, and technology 
and business. Others named to the list include: Ani DiFranco, Tiger 
Woods, Bill Gates, Henry Louis Gates, Andrew Cuomo, Opra Winfrey, Jesse 
Jackson, Jr., Gov. Christine Todd Whitman, David Ho (HIV researcher), 
Steve Case (AOL founder and CEO), Steve Jobs (Apple co-founder), and Jim 
Barksdale (Netscape CEO)

The staff, board of directors, and members of GLSTN congratulate Kevin 
Jennings on this honor.
