The issue was backed by "minnesota family council," local affiliate of family research council. ED and chief lobbyist for MFC is one Darryl McKigney, former press secretary to Rod Grams. expect to see him running for congress against democratic incumbent collin peterson (7th congressional district). --------------------------------------- From: Subject: "Stealth" Questionnaire Available: School Boards & the RR I believe that it was Pat Robertson who said it is not who sits in the oval office but who sits in the principals office. In that context, he is attempting to get "stealth candidates" on local school boards. It is apparently working. School board elections will soon be upon us. Long Islanders for Fairness and Equality has developed a questionaire for School Board Candidates to ferret out these candidates. I will be glad to send a copy to anyone who wishes. Please send a SASE to me: Myrna at 391 Garfield Ave. West Hempstead, New York 11552. Sorry about the SASE but this has been a one-woman campaign. Thanks. PS I will be on vacation for a week so please be patient. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ [ the rest of this message is about California's English-Language Arts Instructional Materials and Framework procedures. We post it in hopes that interested Californians will get involved, as there SHOULD BE INCLUSION of fair and accurate info re LGBT matters in the English-Language Arts subject area and THERE CURRENTLY IS NOT. We've noted the places where PUBLIC PARTICIPATION is possible; as well, we hope education professionals will begin to get involved, AT THE STATE LEVEL, in the technical and professional aspects, such as becoming IREP members, in future. We encourage districts, schools, AND MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC to be familiar with and use their nearest Learning Resources Display Center (LRDC). The LRDCs, formerly called Instructional Resources Display Centers, play a critical role in the state adoption of instructional resources and can be a valuable resource for districts in their selection of resources as well. Although all LRDCs contain samples of instructional resources in text format, certain LRDCs have been designated to display technology-based resources as well. These "high tech" LRDCs have been equipped with the hardware necessary to allow for the review of technology-based resources. A roster of the LRDCs is enclosed [IF YOU ARE INTERESTED, email to get the current list]. ****In addition to displaying the materials, the LRDCs also have forms that you may use to provide public comments, which is an official component of the adoption process. The Curriculum Commission and State Board of Education will consider written and verbal comments in making their adoption recommendations.**** For your information, an overview of the significant events for these adoptions is included [below].
