By action of its Board of Trustees, Pomona College has adopted a Domestic Partnership Policy for faculty and staff which becomes effective immediately (9/2/93). The policy extends benefits to both gay and non-gay domestic partners and their dependents. Certain specified criteria, similar to those required at Stanford and elsewhere, must be satisfied in order to qualify as domestic partners. Under the policy: Domestic partners and qualified dependents are granted the same benefits as those provided to married spouses and their dependents, so long as the domestic partnership is in force or, with respect to dependents, so long as they are legally dependent upon the employee of the College. Those benefits include: a) Health and all other insurance benefits, or the monetary equivalent of the College's contribution to be used for such insurance benefits; b) Family leave benefit; c) Tuition remission; d) Home purchase loan; e) Athletic facility privileges; and f) Library privileges.
