The Sports Alliance has begun to plan for the participation of Greater Los Angeles area athletes. In 1994, over 1300 athletes from this area went to New York, and despite the greater travel cost, the Alliance is determined once again to have the largest contingent in Amsterdam, and, more importantly, enable every GLBT athlete who wants to go to Amsterdam to find a way to get there. Here are some info sources and contacts which may be useful: Gay Games organizers' website: http://www.megatel.nl/gaykrant [There will be a Gay Games V information number in North America set up this winter.] GISAH (Gay Integration Through Sports and Activities Hol- land) and EGLSF (European Gay & Lesbian Sports Federation) info can be found on: http://www.bart.nl/~fabistas/. After a few jumps, coming out to your parents will be a snap. ALTERNATIVE SPACE PLANNED FOR WEST HOLLYWOOD This winter a LGBT Sports Alliance task force will prepare a plan for alternative sports-oriented space in West Hollywood. There are several goals involved: 1) to develop an on-going program of varied sports activities at the heart of the Los Angeles GLBT community to correct the absence of a community recreation center. 2) to enable several important sports to have a permanent base in which to create continuing programs - these include table tennis, badminton, gymnastics, roller hockey, martial arts, darts, wrestling. 3) to provide a place for outdoor sports and recreational activities to put on demonstrations, films and videos, and promote special events. 4) to target GLBT youth for involvement in healthy and positive groups and activities. Anyone who would like to join this task force, please contact Charlie at 310-374-1275. } LA GLBT SPORTS ALLIANCE December 11, 1995 NEW SPORTS ORGANIZING NOW FOR WOMEN: Women's Basketball Trish 310-696-2657 FOR MEN AND WOMEN: WeHo Badminton Dave 310-838-5996 Gymnastics Allen Tues. eve/SFValley 805-965-2610 Kayaking Peter panec@lamg.com 310-397-4149 Martial arts Mack 310-512-7898 Paintball Habeeb 310-478-7150 Racquetball Bob 213-664-9938 Roller hockey Bill @.com 310-652-3638 Th eve/Sat AM WeHoPark Sailing, boating Andrew 818-783-7673 Shooting sports Bart WESK16A@prodigy.com 213-466-3089 Sky-diving Brian - Crosswinds 310-391-7577 next dive: 12/17/95 8AM California City Table tennis Evan 213-654-8902 Ultimate frisbee P.J. @.edu 310-820-6719 Water skiing Kurt 818-293-9124 NEW MEMBERS OF THE SPORTS ALLIANCE: Cheerleading WeHo Cheerleaders Louis 213-656-0380 Rowing Bob Barnett @.com 213-661-5939 Skiing (snow) Arriba!
