I;ve also forwarded your message to Deacon McCubbin, owner of Lambda Rising bookstores; he should know about the availability of books. You might also read some articles on biculturality among lesbigays, although such studies are not Native American specific. I know of two journal articles exploring this but don't have them offhand. Good luck. 1) New York City has a Gay Native American support group called WE WAH and BAR-CHEE-AMPEE NATIVE - Two Spirits in New York City. 111 E 14th St, Suite 141, NY, NY 10003. Contact Curtis Harris 212-779-3151. They should be able to give you a list of resources. 2) HOMOSEXUALITY AND WORLD RELIGIONS, edited by Arlene Swidler (1993). This excellent readable overview of gay religiousity has a chapter by Robert M. Baum titled, "Homeosexuality and the Traditional Religions of the Americas and Africa," pp 1-46. Page 4-19 deals specifically with Native American beliefs, and the chapter is copiously footnoted. 3) From THE BIG GAY BOOK (John Preston, 1991), pp 61-62: Gay Native Americans and gay Native Canadians are among the nost ignored parts of our world. even though many of the icons and symbols of gay life come from our romantic image of Indian life and lore. LIVING THE SPIRIT: A GAY AMERICAN ANTHOLOGY, compiled by Gay American Indians with the help of coordinating editor Will Roscoe (New York: St Martin's Press, 1988), is an attempt to let gay Native Americans and Native Canadians speak in their own words. The anthology is a vital contribution to the completeness of our self-image. TWO EAGLES: AN INTERNATIONAL NATIVE AMERICAN GAY AND LESBIAN QUATERLY is the publication of American INdian Gays and Lesbians.
