Date: Fri, 24 Jun 1994 15:13:44 EDT The enclosed message was received at my address, presumably in reply to the article I forwarded to GLB-News regarding allegations of sexual discrimination on the part of Enterprise Rent-a-Car. Please send all replies to the company itself (enterprz@cyberspace.com).... (Enterprise Rent-a-Car sent the message in ALL CAPS) FROM: J.B. SPECTOR SUBJECT: ENTERPRISE ALLEGED DISCRIMINATION THE COMPANY HAS HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO REVIEW THE COMPLAINT FILED BY RODNEY BERTONE AGAINST ENTERPRISE RENT A CAR COMPANY OF LOS ANGELES AND SEVERAL OF ITS EMPLOYEES. THE COMPANY CATEGORICALLY DENIES THAT ANY EMPLOYMENT DECISION WAS BASED ON MR. BERTONE'S SEXUAL ORIENTATION. WHEN THE MATTER IS RESOLVED IN THE COURTS, IT WILL BE CLEARLY ESTABLISHED THAT ANY DECISION MADE ABOUT MR. BERTONE WAS A RESULT OF MR. BERTONE'S PERFORMANCE AND NOT HIS PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS. UNFORTUNATELY, ALLEGATIONS , EVEN IF TOTALLY UNFOUNDED, RAISE PUBLIC CONCERNS. THE COMPANY WISHES TO EMPHASIZE THAT MR. BERTONE'S ALLEGATIONS ARE FALSE AND THAT THE COMPANY WILL BE VINDICATED IN COURT. THE COMPANY HAS TREATED MR. BERTONE IN A FAIR AND IMPARTIAL MANNER WITHOUT REGARD OR PREFERENCE TO HIS SEXUAL ORIENTATION.
