Date: 28 Nov 1994 16:27:44 -0800 From: "Linda Hooper" OFFICE MEMO An Event, April 1995 Date: 11/14/94 Slugs have been coming out for 30 years: Now they're coming back April 23, 1995 The first University of California, Santa Cruz reunion of gay, lesbian, and bisexual alumni will be held on April 23, 1995, during the annual "Slug Day's" festival when alumni, parents, and community members are invited to visit the campus. UCSC has long enjoyed an actively political and cultural gay student body, but for the first time these alumni are returning to meet, play, and reminisce. Since the campus was founded in 1965, enormous social changes have taken place. In 1965 gay men's groups meet in secret, there was only one lesbian magazine. By 1995 a million gay people had saturated the nation's capitol in a week-long party and lesbian chic had come and already gone out of style. Over the next few months, reunion organizers will be planning activites and gathering addresses of alumni who wish to learn more about this historic event.
