Douglas Brownfield asked about mutual funds that target gay-positive firms. I would assume most of the "socially responsible" funds include companies with gay-positive firms. In a recent issue of "Sierra, The Magazine of the Sierra Club," I found ads for three funds: The Parnasus Fund (1-800- 999-3505), Pax World Fund (1-800-767-1729), and Dreyfus Third Century Fund, Inc. (1-800-373-9387 Ext. 4546)). You can call them and ask about their policy towards investing in gay-positive firms when asking for a prospectus. The only prospectus I have is for Calvert Social Investment Fund (1-800-368- 2748). According to it, "the Fund seeks to invest in a producer or service provider which...does not discriminate on the basis of race, gender, religion, age, disability, ethnic origin, or sexual orientation..." In their recent investors' newsletter, they discussed how they ask companies about benefits they provide for non-married spouses of employees. The article was very gay- positive. I should have posted it to GAYNET, but it got recycled before I had the time to do so. (The usual disclaimer: I am not recommending anyone invest in any of these funds without carefully reading its prospectus, etc.) Ed Lisowski (Joan B.: are you still out there?)
