Numbers are based on AIDS cases reported to CDC through December 31, 1993. Please note this information is provisional, and the 1993 year-end information and the quarterly updates of the "HIV/AIDS Surveillance Report" will be delayed due to the reporting changes enacted this year. The 1993 year-end edition is due in August 1994 and the 1994 quarterly information is due in the fall. CDC NAC ONLINE users will be notified when these reports become available and are distributed by the Clearinghouse. CUMULATIVE CASES The cumulative number of AIDS cases reported to CDC is 361,509. Adult and adolescent AIDS cases total 356,275 with 311,872 cases in males and 44,403 cases in females. Through the same time period, 5,234 AIDS cases were reported in children. The term "children" refers to persons under age 13 at the time of diagnosis. Total deaths of person reported with AIDS are 220,871, including 218,052 adults and adolescents, and 2,819 children.
