This message is especially for persons who are interested in registration for the Congress. This Congress will be the first of its kind to focus on public policy as it relates to the delivery of HIV/AIDS prevention and services for racial and ethnic communities. A special emphasis is being placed on workshops to promote a greater understanding of biomedical and behavioral research. The Congress is sponsored by the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health and the U.S. Public Health Service. Representatives of key nongovernmental organizations have assisted in developing plans for this meeting. It is anticipated that more than 750 community leaders will attend. Participants will reflect the broad spectrum of racial and ethnic minorities involved in HIV/AIDS prevention, services and research. Through workshops and special institutes, representatives from African-American, Asian and Pacific- Islander, Hispanic/Latino and Native American communities will seek to identify opportunities to improve HIV/AIDS efforts in the future. Also planned are special events to promote the understanding of behavioral, biomedical and basic research; expand the use of technology and computers to support many aspects of HIV/AIDS services; and enhance opportunities for partnerships between governmental and nongovernmental organizations.
