I am writing to ask for your support in publicizing my study on
HIV-Negative Gay Men in HIV Mixed-Status Couples.  Attached is a press
release which I am asking you to announce and share with your 
colleagues, constituents, and friends.

I am a graduate student at the California School of Professional
Psychology in Los Angeles.  This study is a requirement for the
completion of my Ph.D. in clinical psychology.  Both my dissertation
chair and myself regard this as a very important and ground-breaking
piece of research.  The importance of investigating the psychological
impact of HIV in sero-different (also called “sero-discordant”) gay male
couples is crystallized with the advent of new treatment regimens which
are prolonging the quality of life for HIV-positive gay men.  The study,
which seeks to collect meaningful data from a NATIONAL SAMPLE of
HIV-negative gay men, will have a profound impact in the development and
advancement of future knowledge in the area of gay male relationships
and the impact of HIV in these relationships.

    Research study examining factors contributing to adjustment among
         HIV-Negative Gay Men in Mixed HIV-Status Couples

Los Angeles, CA -- A national research study examining the experiences
of HIV-Negative Gay Men in HIV Mixed-Status couples is seeking
participants.  The research will examine the effects of HIV-related
factors, AIDS-related loss, and relationship characteristics on the
psychological adjustment of HIV-negative gay men who are in committed
relationships with HIV-positive gay men. The study is being conducted by
Antony Stately, M.A., himself a member of an HIV mixed-status couple, as
part of the requirements in completing his Ph.D. degree in clinical
psychology.

Study participants must be:
        1)  HIV Negative Gay Man at least 18 years old
        2)  In a committed relationship with HIV-positive Gay Man
            for at least six (6) months.

Participation in the study is voluntary and requires a commitment of
15-30 minutes to complete a questionnaire.  Unfortunately, participants
cannot be compensated for their efforts, however, may take satisfaction
knowing they have helped to contribute to the advancement of scientific
knowledge in an area that desperately needs to be examined.
