These are the words from which Anna Quindlen quotes.  It is attributed to
prelate Martin Niemoeller, who spoke them in Nazi Germany.  The exact
speech from which it is taken, however, seems unknown.  Regardless, these
timeless words will ring true as long as human beings suffer at the hands
of other human beings.
